How does the game work?
Beginning with the first week of the season you pick the team you are sure will win that week. If you pick correctly you'll advance to the next week. The only catch is that in future weeks you can't pick the same team again. If you're wrong you can still play in the second chance pool, however, if you are wrong again, you will be completely eliminated from the game. If multiple participants make it to week 17, there will be a tie-breaker game. If players are tied after the tie-breaker, then SSM's computer will randomly pick a winner from among those still tied. If no one makes it through the entire season, then the winner is the participant that lasts the longest. If two or more participants are eliminated the same week, prior to week 17, the tie will be broken by a random selection.
When is the deadline to enter my picks?
You can pick an eligible team up to 5 minutes before the game is scheduled to start.
What if I don't pick a team for a week?
If you don't pick it counts as a loss and you fall to the next available tier of the contest, or if you are in the lowest tier, you will be removed from the contest.
The season has already started. Can I still play?
No, sorry. You can not join the contest late as you would have an advantage over the existing players.
What is a Road Block Game?
A Road Block Game may be implemented throughout the season. When implemented, a game will be identified (the Road Block Game) for which you must select a winner. You also must make your normal pick for the week as well. To continue in your current pool, you must get both picks correct. You can not select a team from the Road Block Game with your regular picks. Likewise, if you have already used either or both of the Road Block Game teams, you are able to select one of them again for the Road Block Game.
Are private groups available?
Private groups are available for any entrant who desires to form their own groups of their friends and co-workers. Entrants can either create or join private groups. Private group creation or joining a private group is prohibited once the Registration Period ends. Every private group will have its own private smack board. There will be a commissioner (the private group founder) for each private group. Once the commissioner names the group and sets the private group password, it is the commissioner's responsibility to provide the password to entrants wishing to join that private group. Both the private group ID and password are required to join and enter the private group. No prizes will be awarded to private groups.
